Rochester's hospitality and tourism industry provides 11,000 full-time equivalent jobs and serves more than 2.5 million annual visitors. In 2006, Rochester experienced its best year ever with a nine percent increase in overall hotel bookings and a more than $20 million increase in direct visitor spending.

The Rochester Convention and Visitors Bureau estimated visitor spending topped $270 million in 2006. In 2007, the efforts of the Rochester Convention and Visitors Bureau resulted in 100,000 booked group hotel rooms for visitors attending conventions, meetings and sporting events.
